Have you ever wondered how to care for quartz countertops? They've become a modern and popular alternative to traditional granite. Quartz offers homeowners a clean and bright look in their home.
But how do you care for your new quartz countertops? Is maintenance the same as granite? Let’s dive into this subject!
Fun Facts About Quartz
- While quartz and quartzite are similar, quartz is man-made, engineered, and has a more consistent look than quartzite, which is 100% natural stone. Engineered quartz comprises mostly of quartzite and some resin.
- Quartz is very durable and non-porous since it's made with one of the hardest minerals on earth.
- Due to the hardness of the stone, quartz resists staining and does not require sealers like granite!
- The sparkles and veining of quartz can mimic the beautiful look of granite or marble.
Although quartz is durable, you still want to clean it gently to maintain its smoothness and shine. Any gentle cleaner or a mild detergent will work great, and most food stains should come up with a little elbow grease – however, we don’t recommend using abrasive scouring pads. For tougher stains, a Magic Eraser® may also be used. That's really all you need to know about proper care for quartz countertops!
